Ordering your new Carlton guitar or bass
A custom build generally begins with an email or phone enquiry. A dialogue ensues in which all aspects of your idea are explored. Through a consultative process a specification and fixed price quote will be generated which will be based on your initial concept and ideas.
Deposit lodgement
When you are happy with the specification and indicate your willingness to proceed you will be required to pay a non refundable one third deposit. Deposit lodgement puts the project in the build queue and allows the alocation of a serial number. Premium tonewoods will be allocated and cut. Hardware and or materials will be purchased. Payment of your deposit indicates that you agree to clear the balance payable and take delivery of the resulting instrument within seven days of the date of completion.
Build time
This is an estimate of the date you may expect your instrument to be completed. You will be kept informed of progress with an online photographic build log or photos emailed to you. If you have concerns or questions I can be reached by email or phone during business hours.
Completion date and final payment
On the date of completion you will be emailed a link to a set of high resolution images of the completed instrument.
Payment in full is due within seven days and will include extra charges such as frieght, case etc as required. Your guitar will be shipped as soon payment has been received by my bank.

Shipping Method
I use Pack and Send insured service to ship instruments by default. I have found them to be 100% reliable and provide an excellent level of service. If you wish to use a cheaper courier you may prepay and arrange the courier service of your choice to pick your instrument up from my workshop.
Payment plans
After lodging your deposit you may make instalments while building proceeds.
You will be provided with progress images and a short commentary on the various processes.
The amount shown on the order plus freight and insurance must be paid in full 7 days after completion photos are provided.
You may pick up the guitar in person at the workshop or have it shipped to you with insurance at your cost..
Pack and Send is the preferred carrier.
NB! The guitar cannot be released until payment including freight and insurance is received in full.
Please note:
Once work has been commenced and the deposit applied to the job it is not fully refundable. Work includes design, selection and cutting of premium tonewoods or purchase of parts or materials for the project. A refund maybe payable in full if order is cancelled within 3 days working days of deposit lodgemnent. A service charge of 10% of deposit amount is payable if work has commenced and or parts have been purchased. You may receive a refund including parts purchased and or cash at the discretion of Carlton Guitars. If a highly specialised project is cancelled a refund may be held over until it is sold either partially built or completed at the discretion of Carlton Guitars.
Carlton custom built instruments are made to exacting standards using top quality air dried tone-woods and the finest quality, industry standard hardware available. They are built by my hands from start to finish specifically for you. I I won't compromise quality for price. I am dedicated to creating fine tone unlike the multinational guitar factories that are dedicated to making money.
