T Type Blackguard No. #16-150810
I always intended this to be my own personal guitar and from the early spring of 2010 it was my #1. I always swore this guitar would be pulled from my cold dead hands. In November 2012 a nice bloke named Dave made me a very generous offer on it at a time money was short and the groceries mighty plain. Turns out Dave and I were at state school together way back in 1955. If you see this guitar come up for sale it is a pearler.
In this build I attempted to reveal the true nature of the look and feel of the natural timber. US Swamp Ash has a very seductive feel when polished to a high gloss and minimal finish is applied. As the years roll by the the harder growth rings accentuate as the softer tissue in between are ever so slightly worn away by the body and clothes of the player. A final intimate shaping of the wood taking place over years and years of playing.
The hardware is modern technology but echoes the look of what was used in the 50's at the Fender Fullerton factory right down to the slot head screws. It has the Blackguard vibe with modern "advantages" Great tone with one of my all time my favourite pickup combos.
