We’ve all had it, you bump you guitar lead and a thunderclap comes crackling across the stage at full volume. Every time you roll the volume knob it sounds like a wave crashing on the shore. Electronic issues are the simplest and often the cheapest repairs but on stage they are the most obvious and painful problem of all. The crowd wont know if your frets are a bit dodgy or the bass isn't set up too well but they will certainly notice the sound of a faulty output jack as it assaults their ears at full volume. It won't go unnoticed by the boss either.
Cheap electronic components will not enhance your tone. No matter how good mechanically your $400 hot rod is the tone will be way below what it could be until you upgrade the $3 worth of components in the control cavity. Shoddy mini pots, .01c caps, cheaply built cast output jack are all easily and relatively cheaply replaced with industry standard CTS pot, Sprague caps and Switchcraft jacks and switches.
