E-Type - No. 63-081118
E-Type powered by the muscular tone of a Tonerider Classic Plus for tele. Overwound with plenty of bite and edge it is among my favourite Bridge pickups. The E-type is real fun guitar and suits pretty much any style of music but it especially shines for Rock, Blues and Punk. .A guitar of the same design was in fact the first mass produced solid body guitar ever built. It was designed by Leo Fender in the late 1940's as a one pickup model named the Esquire which predated the telecaster by 21/2 years. Fender had no intention of adding a second pickup but eventually succumbed to pressure from his marketing man and in 1950 the Broadcaster was born. In 1952 it was renamed the Telecaster. The Esquire is still produced at Fender some 71 years after the first run rolled out of the Fullerton factory in 1949. The wide open tone of the pickup straight through to the amplifier along with the simplicity of one pickup makes it an all time favourite,
