No.54-220517 - The Iron Fist
The name was chosen by the owner for this unique project. Although it looks similar to a model released in the early 60's by a large American manufacturer it has fundamental differences. The body is both longer and thicker, There is also a more pronounced offset at the front horns. The idea was to balance the guitar better than the original design which tends to be headstock heavy. The extra weight achieves excellent balance but did not make it a heavy guitar wegihg in at 3.7kgs. Timber used is White Limba sometimes called Korina. It is very much like mahogany and is known as one of the holy grail tonewoods for solid electric guitars.
A pair of Brieley PAF replica pickups and a complex control circuit allows a wide selection of great tones. A push pull on each of the volume controls gives a coil split in the corresponding pickup. A push pull on the tone control puts the neck pickup out of phase with the bridge. This is active only in the center pickup selector position where both pickups are in parallel.
The result is a great feeling instrument with a wide range of stellar tones. Everything used in the building of this instrument is top shelf including a hand built custom made flight case by C&C cases here in Melbourne.
